IT'S RELEASE DAY! 🥳😭

I’m not crying. I swear.

Sad Inside Out GIF

Okay, I’m crying. Cloaking Fate is out there, y’all. This fledgling has clawed its way to the edge of the proverbial nest and finally, terrifyingly, tipped over the side.

Will she fly? Will she fall? Will she hit a dozen branches on her way to the dirt? Honestly, I don’t even care at this point.

(I do care. I care a lot).

I am just basking in the stunned realization that IT’S OUT THERE.

This has been a two-year journey. Two-ish years ago, I had this bizarre dream that I thought would make a cool story. I dragged Mike to the mall and said, “I want to buy a laptop.” He sighed. At this point in our marriage, he was used to the wild hairs I often grew. Patiently, he asked, “Why do you want a laptop?” I answered with obvious triumph. “I’m going to write a book.” And not just any book. THE book.

Negotiations were underway.

I’ll skip the gory details. All you need to know is we struck an accord. Mike supported the purchase of a shiny new MacBook (we discuss all major purchases, and this one felt kind of major to me), and I had one year to write an actual book.

Side note: I have a minor tendency to come up with a great new hobby or interest, throw all my energy into it convinced it will become a life-long passion, and then promptly run out of aforementioned passion a few weeks later. Mike knows this about me. I think he privately thought this book-writing business would be no different. Can’t say I blame him.

BUT I DID IT. One year later, almost to the week, Cloaking Fate’s first draft was complete. It took another entire year to edit, navigate cover design, dip my toe into the shark-infested waters that are marketing, and figure out some semblance of a publishing plan. Two years. Two years of plotting, pushing creative limits, questioning my sanity and competence, pouring out personal finances, and quite likely rewiring my brain chemistry.

And here we are.

I so hope you enjoy this book.

And if you don’t? That’s okay, too. I love that you chanced it. ♥️

Regardless of your opinion, I’d be honored to receive it. Review me on Amazon, Goodreads, B&N, social media, wherever you can leave a review. Whether you think it’s worth one ⭐️ or five, your review helps me tremendously! 🙏🏼

Here, I’ll even make it easy! Here are a couple of links to popular sites where you can leave a review:

And if you don’t read, recommend my book to someone who does! 🤓 I’d be honored to be on their TBR. (If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry—your reader friend will.)

Another thing I’d like to take a moment to do is congratulate the winners of this month’s newsletter subscriber giveaway: Jordyn and Miriyah! I honestly had the best time putting together these boxes and hope you love them. I’ll certainly have more giveaways in the future.

But wait, there’s more! Today is Mike’s 42nd birthday! 🎉

Oh, how I adore this Gemini. Have I mentioned that he’s my biggest fan? We’ll be celebrating in doubles. ♊️♓️

So. Book one is done. What’s next?

Well, for now, we are headed to New York for a baseball tournament and some much-needed time away from work. I plan to savor the quiet moments of life and loved ones over the next two weeks that we’ll be on vacation. I’m taking a solid month to step away from all things book-related. My brain desperately needs to regenerate brain cells, and my family needs my undistracted presence.

And then?

Well. Let’s see if I can do this again. 😉
